Senior Chris Current poured in 30 points and the Frankfort Panthers rode an improved defense to a 71-66 victory over the Grant County Braves Saturday afternoon in the Jessamine County Classic.
Frankfort improved to 9-3 while Grant County fell to 5-6.
“Chris had 19 in the second half, so he kind of took over the game a little bit,” FHS coach Scott Chalk said.
Dustin Plunkett scored 26 and Robert Bounds 20 to lead the Braves.
But Chalk said his team did a good defensive job on Braves’ star Tyler Jones, limiting the Miami of Ohio-signee to 14 points.
“One thing positive I can say defensively is we did limit Tyler Jones’ shots,” Chalk said. “He had only 14. He’s a three-point shooter, and we did a good job of not letting him get good looks.”
