LEXINGTON – Sophomore forward Chuck Hayes was giddy with unabashed joy Tuesday night after yet another dominating performance by his Kentucky Wildcats.
On this night the Georgia Bulldogs were the victims at Romp Arena as Hayes’ Kentucky team roared to an 87-67 victory in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score indicates.
It was the 13th straight victory for the third-ranked Wildcats, equaling the longest win streak in Coach Tubby Smith’s tenure in Lexington.
The 6-foot-6 Hayes had his fourth double-double of the season, contributing 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Senior center Marquis Estill also had a double double, pouring in 16 points and grabbing 12 boards.
Four other Kentucky players hit double figures in scoring.
The Wildcats held a commanding 45-31 advantage in rebounding, which is astounding against a team as physical and athletic as the Bulldogs.
Kentucky improved to 19-3 overall and 9-0 in the SEC, while Georgia fell to 13-7 and 5-4.
