TNT swimmers open long course season

Swimmers from the Thorobred Nautical Team (TNT) participated in their first long course meet of the 2003 season recently.

TNT had 23 swimmers entered in the Newburgh (IN.) Sea Creatures Swim Club Invitational May 2-4 and finished in second place behind the host team, thereby bringing home the first place trophy as the host team removes itself from competing for the first place trophy.

In addition to TNT and the host Newburgh team, other teams participating were Indiana teams Jasper Aquatic Wildcats, Mt. Vernon Swim Team, Southridge Aquatic Raiders, Tecumseh Swim Club, Tell City Swim Club, Vincennes YMCA, and Kentucky’s Hopkins County Family YMCA. TNT finished with 1,265 points to 1,232 points for Jasper; 1,159 for Mt. Vernon; and 695 for Southridge.

Hannah Johnson received the award for the 7-8 year-old girl receiving the most total points. Krissie Brandenburg received the award for the 9-10 year-old girl receiving the most total points. Brandenburg scored a perfect 160 points finishing in first place in all ten individual events in which she was entered. TNT”s Heather Ayer finished the meet in second place for the 9-10 girls high-point award.

TNT swimmers finishing in first place in events were Bradley Huster, Jodie Llanora, Hannah Johnson and Krissie Brandenburg.

The 9-10 girls 200 meter free relay team and 200 meter medley relay team made up of Krissie Brandenburg, Heather Ayer, Hannah Johnson and Anna Balassa placed first in both of the relay events.

Out of the 112 individual event swims by TNT swimmers, in which the swimmer had previously posted a long course time, the swimmers posted 89 new personal best times.
