Staying on her toes

Holly Kell, a senior-to-be at Franklin County High School, was asked recently what she’s going to be doing this summer.

“Well, I’m finishing up dance right now,” Kell said. “Then I have golf tournaments scheduled. And then I’m hopefully going to pick up a tennis racquet sometime before the summer is over.”

“Holly may get into some tennis tournaments if there are no conflicts,” said Jeff Kell, Holly’s father and tennis coach.

“We are looking at some USTA tennis tournaments,” Holly said.

“Holly might do a little swimming if it works out,” adds Margie Kell, Holly’s mother. “The (Frankfort) country club has a swim team, and she’s hoping to get wet a little bit.”

Welcome to the Kell household, where if sleep wasn’t a necessity, it wouldn’t be in the family vocabulary.

Holly, 16, is the latest in a line of multi-talented Kell sisters who have come through Franklin County High School.

Allison, now 24, and 22-year-old Jessica both were multi-sport athletes for the Lady Flyers, excelling in either tennis, golf, swimming or some combination.

And now there’s Holly, who’s making her own mark in all three sports.
