FCHS spikes Lady Generals

Franklin County volleyball coach Kate Dominick says her team can be inconsistent, but the Lady Flyers were on the upswing Monday, beating Lafayette 25-23, 25-17 at FCHS.

“Things have been going really well,” Dominick said. “We can be inconsistent, and we still have our ups and downs, but so far things are going really well.

“We went to a tournament over the weekend and won our pool, which was cool, because we beat a team from Tennessee that was ranked third in their state last year, and we beat Wayne County,” she added. “We didn’t have as good a showing on Saturday, but we still beat Scott County so we’re getting there.”

On Monday FCHS was trailing 5-2 in the first game when Nikki Bistline served for six straight points and an 8-6 lead. The Lady Flyers wouldn’t trail again, but Lafayette – serving with Franklin County leading 24-20 – ran off three straight points before hitting long to give FCHS the winning point.

The Lady Generals took a 6-1 to start the first game off the serve of Danielle Morrison, but with Franklin County trailing 10-6, FCHS’ Lindsie Barley served for five straight points and with rally scoring the game was tied at 11-all at the next sideout.

The Lady Flyers gradually pulled away for the eight-point win and the match.
