WHHS ties Sayre

The Western Hills boys soccer team wasn’t at its best Tuesday night, but the Wolverines’ late heroics were enough to earn a tie with Sayre.
“To come back and get a tie after we were down is a positive,” WHHS coach Gary Rue said. “But in a way, this feels like a loss because we didn’t play well.”
While the Wolverines weren’t in top form, the team did offer up an exciting match with the Spartans at Sower Soccer Field. Both teams played aggressively in picking up the tie.
Western Hills is now 8-2-2 while the Spartans are a deceptive 3-4-2.
Sayre was outshot by the Wolverines but Western Hills did most of its offensive work near the end of each half.
Neither team could score until Sayre’s Troy West took a pass from Justin Sherman and sent a shot from the right side past WHHS keeper Aaron Lawrence.
That goal came with just 8:41 left in the match.
