Jennifer Word said she’s ready to begin working for the Frankfort Independent school district – with a little help from the school board.
“I need them to give me a little bit of guidance on what I need to do, so I can start serving the kids as soon as possible,” she said. “I’m eager to learn and to be a part of the team as well as be a voice for my community.”
Word was elected with 783 votes as the new Frankfort Independent school board member Tuesday. She defeated Kenton Cooper who received 671 votes.
She celebrated her victory at the Bishop House on Main Street with her family, friends and supporters after hearing the news of her success around 6:30 p.m. on Cable 10.
