Rams, Raiders win FYFL titles

The Kentucky Employees Credit Union Rams recently won the varsity championship in the Frankfort Youth Football League, and the Raiders won the junior varsity championship.
In the varsity championship game the Rams defeated the Cowboys 7-0. Jeremy Gardner, who rushed for 73 yards, scored the game’s only touchdown and added an extra-point conversion. Corey Craig rushed for 30 yards for the Rams.
Gardner also led the Rams’ defense with seven tackles, followed by Patrick Brown, six tackles; Kevin Stiles, five tackles; Barrett Meyer, three tackles; and Brandon Jennels and Keivon Martin, two tackles each.
The Rams finished the season undefeated at 9-0. Members of the team are Aaron Brown, Patrick Brown, Antoine Burrell, Corey Craig, Greg Ford, Jeremy Gardner, Franklin Goins, Brandon Jennels, Zachary King, Keivon Martin, Barrett Meyer, Xavier Miller, Devon Moore, Wesley Penn, Justin Polsgrove, Kevin Stiles, Morgan Sutherland, Andrew Tackett, Allen Williams and Tyler Wright.
For the Cowboys in the championship game, Lee Ramsey had 23 yards rushing, two kick returns for 25 yards, and one pass reception for 15 yards. Hunter Coffey rushed for 42 yards, and Dylan Curry completed a pass for 15 yards.
On defense Ramsey had seven tackles and two assists, followed by Eric Bingham, five tackles and two assists; Jamie Ward, four tackles and one assist; Thomas West, three tackles and one assist; Coffey, two tackles, two assists and an interception with a 15-yard return; Curry, one tackle, one assist and two sacks; Matt Whitehouse, one tackle, one assist and one sack; Desmond Walker, two tackles, two assists and a fumble recovery; Cody Hecker, two tackles and two assists; Ken Holbrook, two tackles; Jacob Cook, one tackle and one assist; Cody Wainscott and Antonio Kelly, two assists each; and Bruce Thomas and Tyler Hellard, one assist each.
The Rams reached the JV championship game by beating the Cowboys 12-0 in the losers bracket final.
Rodney Gross and Ryan Timmons both scored touchdowns for the Rams. Gross rushed for 95 yards and Timmons for 35. K.J. Franklin led the Rams’ defense with seven tackles, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions. Jared Brewer had four tackles and a fumble recovery, Austin Smith and Nicolas Redmon had four tackles each, and Brian Gearheart and Garrett Hamilton had three tackles each.
