NFBC plans benefit concert

The Run for the Son Benefit Concert, including a chili supper and silent auction, will be held 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at North Frankfort Baptist Church, 7945 Owenton Rd. The Christian Motorcyclist Association and the Capital City Riders for Christ Chapter 2756 sponsor the event.

New series begins Feb. 6 at Immanuel

A series of classes based on the video Living the Questions: An Introduction to Progressive Christianity begins 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 in the fellowship hall at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1075 Collins Lane.

Dr. Chuck Queen, author of four books on progressive Christian themes and A Fresh Perspective, which appears monthly in The State Journal, is teaching the class. The class is open to the public.

Feb 6: Restoring Relationships

Feb 13: The Prophetic Jesus

Feb. 20: Evil, Suffering, and a God of Love

Feb. 27: No Class

Mar. 6: The Myth of Redemptive Violence

Mar. 13: Practicing Resurrection

Mar. 20: Debunking the Rapture

Mar. 27: Honoring Creation

The Reason for God study continues at Memorial

Memorial Baptist Church, 130 Holmes St., continues its study based on the book, The Reason for God by Dr. Timothy Keller. Varying subjects from the book will be discussed each week at the church and all are invited to this free event.

The remaining sessions are offered at two different times: Sundays between 9:30 and 10:40 a.m. during the regular Bible Study hour and then repeated Monday evenings between 6:30 and 7:40. Subjects for discussion and dates are as follows:

Feb. 3-4: Why is the Church Responsible for So Much Injustice?/Why Are Christians Such Hypocrites?

Feb. 10-11: How Can God Be Full of Love and Wrath at the Same Time?/How Can God Send Good People to Hell?

WFCofG youth plan Valentines banquet

TheB.R.A.T.S (Youth) and Teens of West Frankfort Church of God, 1518 Louisville Rd., will host a Valentines banquet beginning 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 in the church fellowship hall. The cost will be $10/individual or $15/couple.

The meal includes a choice of soup, sandwich, dessert and drink.Also included will be a 4×4 colorevent picture. Area merchants will provide door prizes. For more information contact Carrie Hall, 695-7161.
