Lady Flyers cruise in opener
PARIS — Franklin County’s girls basketball played its season opener Tuesday and rolled past Bourbon County 74-26.
The Lady Flyers led 24-10 after the first quarter and 49-19 at halftime.
FCHS had a balanced attack with three players in double figures — Rebecca Cook with 16 points, Princess Stewart with 15, and Nannilena White with 13.
Malaka Frank and Dasia Kilbourne both scored eight points, followed by Kindall Talley with five points, Anna Arrastia with three, and Sierra Newton with two points.
Franklin County shot 53 percent from the field and outrebounded Bourbon County, 42-23.
Stewart led all players with 10 rebounds, Frank had six steals, and Savannah Courtney had four assists.
Asia Sims led Bourbon County (1-1) with 14 points. The Lady Colonels shot just 18 percent from the field.
Franklin County’s next game is at home Friday against Cooper.
JHGA to meet Dec. 14
The Juniper Hill Golf Association will hold a general membership meeting at the pro shop at 10 a.m. Dec. 14.
The agenda will consist of a season recap and the election of officers. Fund-raising for the 50th Governor’s Open will be discussed.
