Vernon Lee Johnson Jr., age 80, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014.

Services for Mr. Johnson will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2014, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with speakers Mr. Joe Woolums, Mr. Larry Dye and Mr. James E. Wallace presiding.  Burial will follow at 2 p.m. Monday at Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, KY. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home Sunday from 2-5 p.m.

Mr. Johnson was born in Williamsburg, KY, on August 13, 1933.  He was the only child of the late Vernon L. Johnson Sr. and Myrtle Haun Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the United States Army with service in the Panama Canal. He retired as an insurance analyst with the Department of Insurance, Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Mattie Clay Cartmill Johnson; three nephews, Robert Carpenter (Wanda), Donald B. Carpenter (Joyce), Harold Carpenter (Vicki); and a niece, Peggy Perfuno.
