NEW YORK (AP) -- Stocks are barely in the green after a pair of positive economic reports. The Dow Jones Industrial average is holding on to a gain that could extend its longest winning streak in a year.
The Dow is up four points at 13,199. The Standard & Poor's 500 is up three at 1,397. The Nasdaq composite is up 10 at 3,050.
If the Dow can hold on to close higher, it will mark its seventh consecutive gain. The last longer streak was eight days in February 2011.
Investors are applauding further signs of an improving economy. The government said Thursday that applications for unemployment benefits fell last week to 351,000, matching a four-year low.
