Power provider picks new president for AEP Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- American Electric Power says its vice president and chief information officer will become president and chief operating officer of AEP Ohio starting in May.

The Columbus-based company said Wednesday that 38-year-old Pablo Vegas will oversee AEP's electrical services for Ohio customers. AEP Ohio has nearly 1.5 million customers in Ohio and northern West Virginia.

Vegas joined AEP in 2005 and previously led its utility operations in Texas. He has served as vice president and chief information officer for nearly two years.

He takes over for Joseph Hamrock, who is taking a job with a different utility distributor.
