WASHINGTON (AP) -- Private researchers say low-cost carrier AirTran did the best job last year of the nation's 15 largest airlines in getting passengers to their destinations with the least hassle.
Regional air carrier American Eagle ranked last.
The annual ratings were released Monday by researchers at Wichita State University and Purdue University. They are based on data airlines supply the government in four areas: lost bags, delayed flights, bumpings from full flights and consumer complaints to the Department of Transportation.
It is the second year in a row that AirTran has scored the best. The airline was acquired by Southwest Airlines Co. last year.
The report includes only those airlines that have at least 1 percent of total domestic passenger revenues.
