Smotrycz, 2 others leaving Michigan program

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan says forward Evan Smotrycz and two other players are leaving the basketball program.

Smotrycz and fellow sophomore Colton Christian are departing along with freshman Carlton Brundidge. The school says all three players will transfer.

Smotrycz played in all 69 games over two seasons, averaging 7.0 points and 3.6 rebounds while playing 19.4 minutes per game. He scored 15 points in Michigan's loss to Ohio in the first round of the NCAA tournament last week.

Coach John Beilein says the Wolverines "never like to see players leave the program." He says all three transferring players are "fine young men with bright futures."
