GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) -- Hundreds of chicken beak-sporting revelers have clucked their way to a new world record in Grand Rapids.
Assuming, that is, that the folks at Guinness World Records agree.
Organizers said 607 people donned fake chicken beaks Thursday evening and wore them for 11 minutes and 39 seconds, eclipsing the 10 minutes mandated by Guinness.
A previous world record in the animal nose-wearing category didn't exist, so if all the paperwork checks out, those who busted a move to the "Chicken Dance" downtown Thursday set it.
The event served as the official kick-off to "Gilda's LaughFest," which runs through March 18 and is sponsored by the nonprofit Gilda's Club Grand Rapids. It honors the memory of comedian Gilda Radner.
