Late FTs help Morehead State nip Austin Peay 52-48

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Drew Kelly scored 11 points, hitting a late layup and three key free throws as Morehead State edged Austin Peay 52-48 Wednesday night in the Ohio Valley Conference.

The Eagles (15-13, 8-6) won it on free throws. Only three Morehead State players went to the foul line. Kelly, Lamont Austin and Deandre Mathieu combined to make 16 of 17. Kelly was 7 for 8, Austin 6 and Mathieu was 3 for 3.

Austin Peay (9-19, 6-8) was just 8 for 17.

The Governors, behind Melvin Baker (17 points) and TyShwan Edmondson (15) led 45-41 with just over 2:00 left when Kelly hit a layup and Austin two free throws to tie it.

Marshall Holden's trey made it 48-45. Austin sank two free throws at 0:16 and Kelly another with 0:05 left. Edmundson made two after a technical foul was called on Austin but Kelly's foul shot at 0:05 ended it.
