Celtic wins 5-0 to stretch SPL lead to 17 points

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) -- Celtic stretched its lead over troubled rival Rangers to a seemingly unassailable 17 points on Sunday with a 5-0 win over Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League.

Gary Hooper scored two goals and Anthony Stokes, Charlie Mulgrew and substitute Ki Sung-yueng hit one each to extend Celtic's winning run in domestic competition to 18 games.

With Rangers deducted 10 points this week for seeking bankruptcy protection before losing 1-0 to Kilmarnock, Celtic looks certain to lift the title

Celtic manager Neil Lennon says "it could have been a major distraction, but we've shown today we've still got the bit right between our teeth."

It was Hibs' worst home defeat since 1985.

St. Johnstone drew 0-0 at Aberdeen in Sunday's other game.
