PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) -- Tom Gillis has been just about everywhere in golf except atop the leaderboard.

That changed Friday morning when he walked off PGA National with a 6-under 64, giving him a two-shot lead among the early starters of the second round.

Gillis, who has competed in 26 countries during a journeyman's career, was at 8-under 132.

Brian Harman broke the course record by three shots with a 61. He needed an eagle on the par-5 18th for a 59, but hit into a bunker with his second shot and failed to get up-and-down. Harman and Vaughn Taylor (66) were two shots behind.

Tiger Woods shot 68 and was seven back.

Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III, who opened with 64, and Rory McIlroy played in the afternoon.
