Head of Univision sports steps down after 1 year

MIAMI (AP) -- Univision Network says the president of its sports division is stepping down.

A spokeswoman for the largest Spanish-language network in the U.S. said Tuesday that Sandy Brown will stay on as an adviser. Brown developed the company's sports network, which is set to launch in April and is based out of Miami.

Brown has been at Univision for just over a year and worked out of the company's headquarters in New York. He previously worked for ESPN, the NBA, Worldspace, Virtual Spectator and CNBC.

Last October, smaller rival Telemundo acquired for the first time in its history the exclusive Spanish-language rights for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
