TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- New York Yankees reliever David Robertson has a bone bruise, and manager Joe Girardi said the All-Star should be ready to pitch by opening day.

Robertson was hurt when he tripped on the stairs of his home in St. Petersburg on Wednesday night, and initial tests caused concern. But after doctors in New York reviewed additional scans, Girardi was relieved.

Robertson will wear a protective boot through Sunday to encourage healing.

Girardi says "it's a huge relief. ... Obviously this is good news."
