GRINDELWALD, Switzerland (AP) -- Canadian skier Nick Zoricic has been airlifted by helicopter to a hospital after a hard crash in a World Cup skicross race.
Swiss media reported that the 29-year-old Zoricic was thrown into safety nets after coming off the course near the finish line.
International Ski Federation spokeswoman Riikka Rakic tells The Associated Press that an official statement on Zoricic's condition was expected later.
Organizers say on the race website that the World Cup event has been abandoned.
Zoricic has raced on the World Cup circuit for more than three years and was competing in his 36th event Saturday.
