MANAMA, Bahrain (AP) -- Despite daily anti-government protests, Bahrain is set to host a celebrity golf tournament next month featuring European Tour veterans Thomas Bjorn and Paul Casey as well as NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana.
The two-day tournament is being organized by the Bahrain government and sports marketing firm IMG Worldwide.
Since protests began last year, the country has canceled the Bahrain Grand Prix, and the European Tour announced that the $2.8-million Volvo Golf Champions would not return because of political instability. The tournament was instead played in South Africa.
The Bahrain GP is set to return in April.
