Athletes Village: Organizers show off apartments

LONDON (AP) -- Olympic organizers have unveiled the first furnished apartments in London's Athletes Village, showing off rooms they promise can accommodate both the very tall and the very small.

The rooms feature beds that can be extended, and mattresses that were tested by a committee including former athletes to make sure they were neither too hard nor too soft. The bedrooms also feature duvets decorated with squares featuring all the Olympic sports.

The suites all have balconies and include sofas in a Miami Vice-like shade of aqua. There are hot pink pillows and blackout curtains so competitors can get a good night's sleep.

London will host 16,000 athletes and team officials during the Olympics, which start July 27 and end Aug. 12.
