Vikings re-sign Evans, sign RB Hilliard

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Vikings have released Remi Ayodele after one unproductive season as their starting nose tackle and re-signed backup defensive tackle Fred Evans.

The moves were made Wednesday.

Evans joined the Vikings in 2007 and has seen spot duty at both tackle spots. He played in all 16 games last year and had 22 tackles. Vikings general manager Rick Spielman knows Evans from their days together in Miami in 2006.

Ayodele was let go one season into a three-year contract. He won a Super Bowl with New Orleans in the 2009 season.

The Vikings also signed running back Lex Hilliard. Hilliard spent the last three seasons with the Dolphins, rushing for 41 yards and a touchdown in 2011. The Vikings currently have 60 players under contract for this season.
