MADRID (AP) -- Fernando Llorente scored twice to help Athletic Bilbao rally for a 4-2 win at Schalke in the Europa League on Thursday night, and Atletico Madrid beat Hannover 2-1 in the other first leg quarterfinal between Spanish and German teams.
At Gelsenkirchen, Llorente put the visitors ahead in the 20th minute before Raul Gonzalez gave Schalke a 2-1 lead with goals in the 22nd and 59th. Llorente's header tied the score in the 73rd, and Atletico got goals from Oscar de Marcos in the 81st and Iker Muniain in the third minute of injury time.
Atletico won at home with goals by Radamel Falcao in the ninth minute and Eduardo Salvio in the 89th. Mame Biram Diouf scored in the 38th for Hannover.
