Brazil organizers concerned with Confed Cup venue

SAO PAULO (AP) -- Brazil is concerned the northeastern city of Recife will be left out of next year's Confederations Cup because of slow preparations.

The president of the 2014 World Cup organizing committee announced on Thursday he will be traveling to Recife to discuss measures to expedite the construction of the Arena Pernambuco, which is behind schedule.

Jose Maria Marin said he will meet with local authorities to make sure Recife can deliver "the stadium within the timeline set for the" warmup tournament.

Four cities are secure as hosts -- Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte and Fortaleza -- but FIFA will decide in June whether Recife and Salvador will also participate.
