Brazil minister praises IOC after FIFA criticism

SAO PAULO (AP) -- A Brazilian minister says she would prefer FIFA to act more like the International Olympic Committee in its dealings with the country.

Planning Minister Miriam Belchior was responding to comments by FIFA President Sepp Blatter, who reportedly said Friday that he wanted to see actions and not only words from Brazilian officials as the country prepares to host the 2014 World Cup.

Belchior said the IOC has a more direct approach with issues relating to the 2016 Games in Rio, saying "it comes here to discuss the progress and the problems and works to try to solve the problems, without using too many words."
