Petrov: Muamba's recovery inspires leukemia fight

BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) -- Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov says Fabrice Muamba's continued recovery from his on-field cardiac arrest gives him hope that he can overcome acute leukemia.

The 32-year-old Bulgaria midfielder watched his team play Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday, just a day after he was diagnosed. He is due to begin treatment in a London hospital on Monday.

Petrov says the picture of a smiling Muamba that appeared online Friday via the player's Twitter account "has inspired me, as has all of the support in the past 24 hours."
