BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) -- Romania came from behind to beat Belgium 2-1 in an international friendly on Wednesday after a goal from newcomer Alexandru Maxim and a converted penalty by Gabriel Torje.
Belgium scored first in the 22nd minute through Christian Benteke, who took advantage of an error in the defense to beat goalkeeper Ciprian Tartarusanu with a left-footed shot from about 11 meters.
Maxim equalized in the 31st after receiving a pass from Dan Nistor and shooting beyond past goalkeeper Simon Mignolet from 16 meters out.
While Belgium dominated the first half, both sides had roughly an equal share of possession in the second half and Romania was awarded a penalty in the 65th minute. Torje put the spot kick past Mignolet without any trouble.
