SYDNEY (AP) -- Alessandro Del Piero's Sydney FC slumped to a fourth consecutive defeat on Friday, losing 2-1 to Adelaide after conceding a late goal that kept the Italian playmaker's team at the bottom of the A-League.
Before 13,317 fans in Sydney, the former Juventus star nearly scored just before halftime. But his ambitious free kick was tipped over the bar by Adelaide goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic.
Fabio Ferreira gave Adelaide a 21st-minute lead while Yairo Yau leveled for Sydney in the 57th before midfielder Dario Vidosic scored the winner in the 88th minute.
Del Piero was visibly agitated at times during the match and Sydney interim coach Steve Corica said it was understandable.
"He's frustrated we're losing," Corica said. "I think everyone's frustrated. He hasn't lost for a long time back in Italy. We're losing games and it's not nice."
Former Socceroos midfielder Jason Culina made his return from a serious knee injury when he came off the bench in the second half, his first A-League appearance in nearly two years.
