Learning their way around a newspaper

Second Street, Elkhorn Middle and The Academy get involved in Newspapers In Education program

Second Street School first-graders Isaiah Brownlee and Ella Denton read from The State Journal while sitting in the Reading Dugout of their classroom. Students at the school receive copies of The State Journal daily as part of the Newspapers in Education program. SSS, Elkhorn Elementary School and The Academy are involved in the program. Elkhorn Middle School teacher Bob Kennoy reads the classifieds in The State Journal with student Scottie Burns while teaching about the different sections of a newspaper. Elkhorn Middle School students Jesse Farler, Angela Shepard and Kalisha Reed learn about the different sections of The State Journal. Second Street School first-graders Ella Denton and Katie Norman read The State Journal during reading time in their classroom. A student at The Academy fills out an assignment while doing an activity with The State Journal in a global studies class.
