Tommy Barnes Memorial Fields Dedication Ceremony

FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 12, 2010) " Go Frankfort, Frankfort YMCA and Friends of Tommy Barnes will be holding a dedication ceremony at 8:30AM on Saturday June 12th to unveil the newly remodeled Frankfort YMCA T-Ball Fields and to rename the fields the Thomas Carter Barnes IV Memorial Fields.

Tommy Barnes was a Western Hills High School graduate who went on to become one of University of Louisville's finest student athletes. He passed away in February 2010 at the early age of 40 after an 18 month battle with cancer. Tommy was a shortstop for the University's baseball team during the early 1990's and was a 2009 inductee into the U of L Athletic Hall of Fame. Tommy is the University's career hits leader with 287, and also holds the school record for the longest hitting streak at 25 games and holds the single-game record for assists with 10.

The dedication ceremony will be followed by the Opening Day of the Frankfort YMCA T-Ball Leagues for Four and Five Year Old players. Free hot dogs, burgers and chips are available while supplies last and snow-cones, popcorn and cotton candy will be available for $1.00.
