During extreme temperatures and bad weather, please remember that ALL animals (domestic pets, farm stock and wildlife) could use a helping human hand.
By providing water and food, with shelter and shade, you can assist many species that are under constant threat from natural impacts and growing pressures from human population growth.
Keep clean water available outside at various heights for maximum benefit to species. Do not let mosquitos lay eggs in your water - best to flush old and refill new water daily.
Help keep an eye on captive pets throughout the community. If one is being overlooked or may turn its water bowl over or be without adequate shelter, a phone call to an animal control officer may save that animal's life during weather extremes.
To contact both city and county animal control officers, dial the non-emergency phone number at the local Dispatch Office - 502-875-8583.
