ANNOUNCEMENT: Frankfort, Kentucky Photographer Collaborates With Maker's Mark!
Mr. Wayne Stacy owner of photographic-magic photography has been commissioned as one of Eight artists to provide work to be on permanent display in the newly built 'Large Tasting Room' on the grounds of the Maker's Mark Distillery, in Loretto, Kentucky.
This new work will be nearly 3 feet wide and 6 feet tall; it will comprise three works into one cohesive installation, and will be used to depict the milling process of Maker's Mark Bourbon to the thousands of visitors who come to tour the Maker's Mark Distillery each year. The installation is scheduled for completion in early September of 2012.
When asked about the work to be installed he says "Well it was a very hard perspective to get my head around when I was given this part of the process to depict...I mean it isn't the 'sexiest' part of the process; most of the milling is done out of the public eye. As a landscape photographer I look for the vibrant color and the contrast in life a scene provides me....I just wasn't getting that vibe." "Although I have been on the grounds countless times, I asked the project manager for Maker's Mark, Sydina Bradshaw, to take me on a deeper more behind the scenes tour, so I could try to find something to attract my interest." "When we went up to the grain elevator, it just hit me....as anyone who knows my work knows, I am a huge 'water' person; water is very deeply expressed in my work. and when I saw the flow of the wheat and the grain in the process, well I was hooked." "I tried to capture that process in the same vein as I do when I capture the flow of water. I guess we will all have to wait until September to see if I succeeded in that though...won't we."
Mr. Stacy was previously commissioned to complete work for Maker's Mark for the "Month of Maker's" exhibit, presented by the Louisville Visual Art Association and Maker's Mark Bourbon (The Month of maker's event celebrated the 2011 birthday of Maker's Mark Bourbon and the release of Maker's 46, the 1st new bourbon from Maker's Mark since the beginning of the brand). The work titled "Rising From Whiskey Creek" (the image depicted in the press release) was the Peoples Choice winner and 3rd Place Award winner for the Month of Maker's exhibit. The work was purchased by Mr. Rob Samuels COO of Maker's Mark Bourbon and hangs in Mr. Samuels office in the Louisville headquarters of Maker's Mark Bourbon.
Mr. Stacy is a Kentucky Arts Council juried artist; in 2012 he was selected for the Kentucky Governor's "Derby Exhibit" where his work was displayed in the Kentucky State Capitol Rotunda for 6 weeks. He is a juried artist in Eight Kentucky regional art guilds and councils and is an artist member of the Louisville Visual Art Association, and the Arts Council of Mercer County.
