First Baptist Church hosts musical

First Baptist Church (Clinton Street) hosts a musical featuring the Magnificent Mass Choir and the Lexington Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. The musical will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.

The Magnificent Mass Choir is comprised of FBC members living throughout Frankfort and surrounding areas. In addition to singing regularly at the church, the choir has sung at civic and regional events, and religious events including the Kentucky State Convention of the Progressive National Baptist Convention and the General Association of Baptists in Kentucky. Minister Elijah Griffin is the Minister of Music.

The Lexington Chapter of GMWA was created in 2009 as a regional chapter comprised of singers and musicians from throughout the area. The Lexington Chapter is active in the national convention which was organized by the late Dr. James Cleveland and is the largest gospel music convention in the world. Chapters are throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Dr. Varanise Booker, M.D. is the Chapter President. Bishop Albert Jamieson is National President.z

First Baptist Church, "The Church Without Walls," is located at 100 Clinton Street in downtown Frankfort, KY. Robert Earl Houston is the senior pastor. This year the church is celebrating 180 years of service. For more information please call (502) 223-5152.
