CHoir Director Sought for New Prison Choir at Northpoint in Danville

Liz Orndorff Published:

Following in the footsteps of the successful playwriting classes at Northpoint Training Center, another venture into the arts is ready to take off at the 1,200-strong state prison outside Danville.

Beginning this year a choir for inmates, and possibly men from the community, will be formed at the prison. Rehearsals will be Wednesdays in the prison chapel (the only night it is free) and will last about two hours (probably 5-7). Recruiting for singers among the prison population will begin as soon as a choir director is hired.

This is a modestly-paid position, with all moneys coming from donations in the community. Choral directing experience is necessary, and experience working with the incarcerated is a plus.

Anyone interested in learning more about this position, please contact Liz Orndorff at 859/236-3481 or at orndorffs@bellsouth.net.
