Sir,
I have been told that you are holding up the medical marijuana bill, SB11.
Please state exactly why you are holding up a bill that a just completed Bluegrass poll says Kentuckians favor by a whopping 60%. A percentage that would pass a filibustered Senate!!
Also please explain what you know about the harms of marijuana use that the committees in 18 States and the District of Columbia did not find. As a person who has studied this issue closely, all the facts show marijuana as a relatively harmless drug so I am curious as to what you may have found that I missed.
Also, one has only to use common sense in deciding this issue. Has the stated harm shown up in States that have had medical marijuana laws in place for a while?
Washington State and Colorado have had Medical Marijuana for over 15 years. Where are all the bad things the Government said would happen? These States hated their medical marijuana laws so much they voted last election to make the recreational use of marijuana legal! I dont think they are crazy, do you?
Legal marijuana is estimated on the low side to be a 14 billion dollar industry. Kentucky's citizens should grab as much of this market as possible. Passing this bill out of committee is the first step, Come on!! Lets take it!
