Serving for over a quarter of a century in itself is an impressive accomplishment. Even if you weren’t told what the occupation was, you immediately understand that in order to do it for that long, it requires dedication, commitment, professionalism and dare I say a “love” for what you do.
Past and present students of Kentucky State University could write a book on how Leslie Thomas has impacted their lives, the lives of their children and the Kentucky State University family as a whole, unselfishly with compassion and has done so without seeking the limelight or fanfare that most would expect.
Her termination doesn’t pass the smell test. You can’t serve for that long and all of sudden become an insubordinate employee. It “looks” like she was forced out by an administration that is more concerned with replacing the good dedicated KSU employees with their own little crew members.
Dr. Sias has an opportunity to right a wrong here and reinstate Mrs. Thomas immediately. Doing so will show the KSU family that she respects our collective opinion, (nobody outside of her administration agrees with this action) has the integrity to admit a mistake and correct it and that she actually cares about the employee’s that take care of our students.
Not correcting this would be a mistake that will alienate her from the Alumni who are very outraged over this and it will create an environment where she will have a tough time getting any cooperation from anyone who cares about the institution, because we don’t believe she does.
We love KSU and we Love Mrs. Thomas. I sincerely hope Dr. Sias does the right thing. Immediately.
