Inept Again

Obama Fan Published:

The VA's crisis is growing.  In 2008 the Obama administration was warned about this exact problem.  Fake wait times, secret list.  Yet what does Jay Carney say?  Says Obama learned about it from the news reports.  Seems he doesn't find much about anything going on in his administration unless he watches the news.

What is in any of the bills that would cause them to not vote or filibuster?  Nothing substantive, but haven't you heard of

The Conspiracy to Commit Legislative Constipation?

    by James Wolcott

"In a scene reminiiscent of the summit meeting of mob bosses in The Godfather, Republican House leaders were summoned by evil marshmallow and message-crafter Frank Luntz to hash out a strategy to cope with the defeat of their party in 2008 and the election of the newly inaugurated President Obama, according to Robert Draper's just published book Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives.

From a report on Draper's revelation by Ewen MacAskill in the Guardian UK (the bolding is mine):

During a lengthy discussion, the senior GOP members worked out a plan to repeatedly block Obama over the coming four years to try to ensure he would not be re-elected.

In his book, Draper opens with the heady atmosphere in Washington on the days running up to the inauguration and the day itself, which attracted 1.8 million to the mall to witness Obama being sworn in as America's first black president.

Those numbers contributed to a growing sense of unease among Republicans as much the defeat in the White House race the previous November. The 15 Republicans were in a sombre mood as they gathered at the Caucus Room in Washington, an upscale restaurant where a New York strip steak costs $51.

Attending the dinner were House members Eric Cantor, Jeb Hensarling, Pete Hoekstra, Dan Lungren, Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan and Pete Sessions. From the Senate were Tom Coburn, Bob Corker, Jim DeMint, John Ensign and Jon Kyl. Others present were former House Speaker and future – and failed – presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and the Republican strategist Frank Luntz, who organised the dinner and sent out the invitations.

The dinner table was set in a square at Luntz's request so everyone could see one another and talk freely. The session lasted four hours and by the end the sombre mood had lifted: they had conceived a plan. They would take back the House in November 2010, which they did, and use it as a spear to mortally wound Obama in 2011 and take back the Senate and White House in 2012, Draper writes.

"If you act like you're the minority, you're going to stay in the minority," said Keven McCarthy, quoted by Draper. "We've gotta challenge them on every single bill and challenge them on every single campaign."

The Republicans have done that, bringing Washington to a near standstill several times during Obama's terms..."

  • You can verify thse events easily from numerous sources...are you sayiing that they did not occur or are you just trying to misdirect the attention of some sort of biatch session about sources?  It is obviously the latter

It's obvious that you do not incliude all the details when you start with your brand of intelligent posting. What was in the bills that would cause the Republicans to not vote or stop the vote? I said before that when the Murray/Ryan budget deal went through that FOX was first to report the deal against veterans COLA and was first to CONDEMN the action by the Republicans all so the messiah could get his budget passed with no difficulties like back in October.

You don't watch FOX news if you did you would include both points of view on subjects and not only the Liberal side....And then you don't get that right either...

  • I watch FOX News so that these fine people don't have to.  Know thine enemy.

I post from any reliable source with "reliable" defined as articles based on reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy.  They are corroborated by other reliable sources reporting on the same thing.   Fox News sometimes does this for their "news", but not for their opinion...and that is where is gets murky over there...they don't deferentiate which is which...prolly on purpose to cornfuse folks like pitch and Big A$$ Fan.

Fact is that Senate Republicans under the leadership of Mitch McConnell filibustered a bill that would have boosted VA funding by $21 billion, expanded benefits, and repealed a provision of the Murray-Ryan budget deal that slashed military pensions.

And it wasn’t like this anti-veteran Republican filibuster was some radical break from the past either. Time and time again during the Obama presidency Republicans have either blocked or opposed bills that would have helped out the veterans they’re now claiming to care so much about.

Back in 2012, for example, GOP senators blocked a $1 billion jobs bill would have helped millions of unemployed veterans find work. And in that same year, Republican opposition also blocked a bill - the so-called Veterans’ Compensation Cost of Living Adjustment Act - that would have kept veterans’ benefits on par with rising expenses.

You can verify thse events easily from numerous sources...are you sayiing that they did not occur or are you just trying to misdirect the attention of some sort of biatch session about sources?  It is obviously the latter.

  • That is laughable...the fact is that it happened and all news media cept FOX reported it.

Exactly how would you know? From what I've gathered you do not watch FOX. The problem I see with your posts is it's biased based. Let me clear that up.. What you  seem to post comes from the head line news of a biased media sources such as NBC, or worse MSNBC.

If in fact it did happen and it was reported by all news sources why did you use a blog source instead of a legimate news source? If you can call the liberal media legimate any more. It's hard to accept any information that you post as fact or even real with the utopia dream world you live in.

Obama fan doesn't have to use blogs the truth is out there you just chose to ignore it, but as I said before what the messiah does in the dark will find the light of day and **** answer for his inept actions soon.

For a news source that seems by your standards sub par for being legimate ratings tell a different story. There's got to be reason why FOX keeps beating all of your liberal news media sources do you know what the secret is? I believe it's called the truth in reporting and covering stories. Something NBC, or MSNBC evidently feels is very un-necessary to have to comply with. And ignoring things is not away to be truthful either like the actions of ABC and CBS does on regular basis.

I'm sure you're already aware of all of this that's why you chose to not use them as reliable and instead insert blog post as your evidence. Yep that's a yutz move. Text book yutz move to be factual about it.

  • pitch: "And stop with the blogs.. That's like relying in Weakapedia to write a peer review paper. You're such a yutz..."

That is laughable...the fact is that it happened and all news media cept FOX reported it.  I wish BIG A$$ O'Fan would use something besides his right wing blogs to cut and paste from for his posts!  Ha! HA!

I would settle for BIG A$$ Obama Fan to post something that is real and not a complete ruse that he seems so susceptable to...I guess that is why they call it the Repug "base". It doesn't have to be positive, just not Bull Puckey, which is all he ever posts.  I tire of correcting his fact free posts.

  • The VA got over whelmed with patients due to 2 wars began by GOP presidents.

See there you go now ukfan. Actually it's 1 war on 2 different fronts or theaters. The war on terrorism,

As I recall it was Democrats involved too and voting to go to both wars. However, Iraq had no Jus ad bellum or Jus in bello so it was an unjust war, but a war that was presented to ALL AMERICANS as a necessary action. Not until after getting directly into Iraq was it learned that there were no WMDs. I've posted Democrats reasonings to go to Iraq in a different post, but I can post them again if you need to boost your memory ukfan. :)

Also remember that the injuriues your husband received was in an unjust war as well. And just who got American involved in that war? I'm pretty sure it wasn't just the Democrats.

This is not solely Obama's fault and I'm not holding him totally responsible except for one thing. Ignoring the warning signs and going about like nothing was wrong to begin with.

it doesn't matter how much money was gotten for a budget that's not the point. What is the point is the way a lot of these administrators went about getting their bonuses. As a result vets died so they could get a fat bonus. Accountability is being passed around like a joint at Motely Crue concert. Every single one of those administrators involved should be fired and the Secretary of VA should step down.

And thank you ukfan, I'm not sweating it, just pi$$ed from what my PC said.  Hearing loss use not be that hard to prove especially if he was in an artillary unit, or even mortars. what was very hard to prove was Agent Orange exposure. Still in some cases hard to prove but VA is finally realiziing it's a loss cause when so many in-country vets are having the same symptoms.

  • pitchfork....I truly do hope you finally get your case resolved at the VA. No vet should have to be put in your position. I know how hard it is to get a file claim sent and approved through all that red tape.

My husband has filed several times for compensation from a war related injury of hearing lost. But to no avail.

Good Luck with your case and I really do mean that.

  • At least the president isn't adding to the casualty list . The VA got over whelmed with patients due to 2 wars began by GOP presidents.

So don't forget that a "lie" by a GOP president is the reason we have so many wounded in the first place.

Also since 2008 the president has increased the VA budget by over 50 billion.

What have the Republicans done. Voted down a bill that would help them over come some of these problems.

  • You keep posting it's all the Republicans fault when you don't have one clue what was in the bills to not get Republivan support.

Futhermore it is your messiah and his party that has labeled every single veteran in this country as terrorists, or risk of becoming a terrorists now how does that make the Dummercrats  Veteran supporters?

For your information when Republicans voted against veteran increases FOX news was the first to being it out a$$hat unlike your lapdawg media spinners FOX will tell the whole truth.

Again you place sole balme on the Republican party while giving your mouth to a$$ party a bye. No wonder you're such a bigotted racist listening to Alan Combs and Rev Al would make me hate white people and Republicans.. And I'm both?

Gezzz grow the he!! up and place blame where it actually belongs.. ON EVERY SINGLE ELECTED REPRESENTATIVE in WASHINGTON...INCLUDING YOUR MESSIAH....

And stop with the blogs.. That's like relying in Weakapedia to write a peer review paper. You're such a yutz....

  • "The Republican Chaos Strategy is working like a charm, and now the GOP is trying to make everyone forget who the real villains are when it comes to denying benefits to our veterans. And the real villains, despite what you might hear over at Fox So-Called news, are all the Republican lawmakers who have repeatedly blocked bills that would have helped out American veterans and given more resources to the VA.

Republicans don’t really care about veterans or the VA, they just care about using this controversy to discredit the President and his Democratic Party - there is an election coming up, after all - and as a twofer, discredit the idea of government-run healthcare programs like the VA. John McCain has even called for the VA to be privatized. The hypocrisy here is astounding.

Remember, it was just a little under three months ago that Senate Republicans under the leadership of Mitch McConnell filibustered a bill that would have boosted VA funding by $21 billion, expanded benefits, and repealed a provision of the Murray-Ryan budget deal that slashed military pensions.

The list goes on. Before that, GOP lawmakers killed the Wounded Veteran Job Security Act, the Veterans Retraining Act of 2009, the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program Reauthorization Act of 2009, the Disabled Veterans Home Improvement and Structural Alteration Grant Increase Act of 2009, the Veterans Business Center Act of 2009, and the Job Creation Through Entrepreneurship Act of 2009.

Every single one of these these bills would have helped veterans and every single one was killed exclusively by Republican opposition. So don't be surprised if I take the GOP’s newfound obsession with veterans’ issues with a big grain of salt. But Republican hypocrisy when it comes to the VA is only part of the story. What we’re really seeing here with the calls for Veterans Affairs Secretary Shinseki to resign and  the bashing of the VA as a whole is one of the best recent examples of what I call the “Republican Chaos Strategy.”"

  • Let's pretend that this is all on Obama, but in reality America has screwed over veterans for over 200 years...watch this:

  • I'm trying to decide if following up with the AL or an attorney would be more benefitional. I'm tired of dancing the VA 2 step. Besides since I had suregery 9 months after my last increase in 1995, VA having records of that, then denying my last increase all for what  doctor said, which I found out I'm not the only vet she did that too that was on her team for care and not for medical reasons I just may retain an attorney and go all in.

I'm not the only vet that thought being denied benefits was done for monetary reasons,or the ones doing the denying thought the money was coming out of their pockets, now there's proof in the scandles thats been going on for quite some time. I have to admit this is not just an Obama administration problem. He just happens to be the deer in the headlights this time.

  • Mitch McConnel, get a life !

  • What any patient VA or otherwise has to do is what one must always do when dealing with any bureuacracy,  FOLLOW UP !      Never leave it thinking it's ok.   Call and ck on the progress and be proactive.   I ALWAYS contact the Patient Advocate and file a formal complaint if warrented.

This one with the VA is this!   instead of saying, It's physically impossible to meet the 14 day waiting peroid with the number of Doctors we have,( A 50% increase in appointments was met with a 1% increase of doctors), those in charge went-- Oh we can doit!!!  And then passed how to get it done down to the medical personell in the trenches.  Given an impossible to meet requirement, people started fudging the times and trying to cook the books to meet the required wait times!!!   This scandal could have been predicted!   Caught between a rock and a hard place, people do what they must to get by.  In this cases they did what they could to meet the requirement.  When what they should have done is admitted the problem and gone from there.

  • They will deny it but like Social Security Disability , which took just as long to get, The system is hoping you give up!  I've met a few guys who did just that.  Took a while to convince them that the trick is to keep applying, be patience and continually follow up!!!!!!

Exactly thomyv. What really pi$$es me off is you can see a practicing surgeon like an orthopedic, get there evals and diagnosis for your problem/condition then go to your C&P, be examined by an unqualified individual then have your results sent to gawd knows who that goes down some check list then says whether or not you meet their doctors requirements.

  • Exactly right Grackle!   What happens is they low ball you and you must then appeal till you get to a rating equal to your condition.  They rated my Degnerative Disc Disease at 20%  when I first applied.   Took 2 years to get the 60% disabled rating that granted me what they call unemployability compensation.  Had they just granted the correct rating they would have saved a ton of money on the paperwork, not to mention the suffering the patients go through while waiting!

They will deny it but like Social Security Disability , which took just as long to get, The system is hoping you give up!  I've met a few guys who did just that.  Took a while to convince them that the trick is to keep applying, be patience and continually follow up!!!!!!

  • Who Really Broke Veterans Affairs?
It stains the legacies of presidents as far back as John F. Kennedy.
