With all the hoopla over education pro and con, It surprised me that there was no response on this story. It dropped to post 83 in 2 days.
Maybe the Headline was misleading ( 83 Around Frankfort (1 comment) mine.).
Student documentary contest open
C-SPAN is accepting entries in the 2010 StudentCam video documentary competition.
The national contest invites all middle and high school students to produce a video documentary, between five and eight minutes long, using C-SPAN programming.
Students for this year's competition will have the opportunity to produce a documentary on either of the following topics: one of the country's greatest strengths, or a challenge the country is facing.
A total of $50,000 will be awarded in cash prizes, which includes 75 student awards and 11 teacher awards.
The grand prize winner with the best overall entry will be awarded $5,000, with multiple cash prize awards of $250, $500, $750, $1,500, and $3,000 to students in both middle and high school categories.
Students, working alone or in groups up to three, can upload their entry form and videos directly online at www.studentcam.org.
Full contest rules are also available online.
The deadline for entries is Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010. Winners will be announced in March 2010, with winning videos to air on C-SPAN beginning in April of that year.
Might I suggest that anyone interested in this program, or even reading this, go to the link posted, www.studentcam.org. and in the top menu find "past winners".
Watch some of these vid's, They are very good, I've been following this since 2006. Gave me a hole new perspective and outlook for these young folk. There are some very bright students out there, Let's see what Kentucky or perhaps Franklin Co, and Frankfort city students can offer. Show me my tax dollars at work.
Please chime in.
