Is this position needed? Maybe/Maybe not, is it needed now? NO
I wonder how long it will take this person to save the city $37,850 to $59,417 to even break even? Years ago under a different HR director employees were asked ways how the city could save money and implement their ideas similar to the state program. In which if an employee comes up with an idea they can be rewarded and its win, win.
But as usual our Commission decides to spend money up front to hopefully or as the agenda says twice "ANTICIPATES" will save the city money....
Just like the trash deal, ye MAYBE its working for the first few months and I am by noway endorsing any candidate but candidate Thompson had a good point we are in a contract with the can making company of $1 MILLION....how long/or if we will ever make that money up.
The city continues to cut employees, reduce benefits, end longevity, raise health care costs, but create possibly a $60+,000 position for a person who turns off lightbulbs.....You can reply and make it as fancy as you want but thats what that person does. Each city employee should be their own sustainability coordinator for the city.
WE DO NOT NEED A POSITION CREATED FOR IT!!!! Somebody must need a job....and also by the way the next item on the agenda is the city hoarding up more land....We don't need more land we own enough as it is and don't use what we have or give it away for $1.
Go to the PVA and search the properties the city owns it will amaze you..
