There are exciting opportunities for entertainment and food coming up in town and nearby. Here’s a look:
Friday: Farmers Bank Summer Concert Re-do is your last opportunity to gather on the lawn of the Old Capitol and hear some great music while seeing everyone you know and eating some wonderful food. This concert is a make-up for one that was rained out.
Sunday: Barbecue and the Whiskey Professor is 4 p.m. at Happy Jack’s Farm. The cost is $25 plus tax, which includes the barbecue dinner and whiskey tasting. A cash bar will be available. Reservations are available at 859-846-4732. A credit card number will be required to secure the reservation.
Bernie Lubbers, known as “The Whiskey Professor” and Heaven Hill Distillery’s ambassador, will lead guests through a presentation about bourbon and history tasting.
The Holly Hill Inn staff will provide a barbecue feast to accompany the tasting.
Thursday and Friday: Holly Hill Inn, Pinot Noir Tasting. Wine Guild director, Steve Mancuso, will pour six Pinot Noirs from California’s Santa Rita Hills region, where the film “Sideways” was set.
There are seatings each night at 6 and 7:30. The cost is $30, which includes wine, cheese and crackers, tax and gratuity. Make your reservations with Steve at email@example.com.
Sept. 18: Winemaker Dinner, Holly Hill Inn. An evening with Jasmine Hirsch, of the famous Hirsch winery in Sonoma, Calif. Hirsch will pour outstanding Hirsch Vineyards wines, paired with a special menu from Chef Ouita Michel.
