The All-Frankfort Expo and Chili Cook-off will be held 4:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Frankfort Convention Center. It’s a celebration of all things shopping and business in Frankfort. Admission to taste the chili is $5 for adults with children admitted free.
A $250 prize will be given to the winner, along with a golden ladle and bragging rights around town as the best chili maker. There are also cash prizes for second and third. The cost to enter is $35.
The event started me wondering about your favorite chili recipes to share with our readers. You, your family or friends can submit them to me.
It’s definitely that time of year to drag out your pots and pans and get them filled with the chili your family and friends love.
Chili, I have found, is a very personal taste and the recipes are all across the board. It doesn’t matter how complex or simple your recipe is; it doesn’t matter what the ingredients are. What does matter is that I hope you will share your recipes.
I would also love to know any history about the recipe — your own creation, your mother’s or just the knowledge that your friends and family call it wonderful. It could also be a recipe you have acquired from somewhere and you think it is the best chili you have ever tasted.
You can email them to firstname.lastname@example.org or send them in the mail to Chili Recipe, State Journal, 1216 Wilkinson Blvd., Frankfort, KY 40601. Please include your name and a phone number where I can reach you.
