Residents of Frankfort's past return to entertain the public for the 15th annual Ghosts of Frankfort tour to be held on Friday and Saturday nights, October 30 and 31. Tickets are now on sale at Liberty Hall for the presentations which will be held five times each night. The event is sponsored by Liberty Hall Historic Site and the City of Frankfort Department of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Sites.
The family-friendly event starts at the Orlando Brown House, 202 Wilkinson St. in Frankfort, with refreshments and children's activities. Guests are then escorted to Liberty Hall where the family members who lived and died there tell their tales of love and loss. After, guests board a bus for Ft. Hill, Frankfort's Civil War-era park. Riding through the park on a hay wagon, guests encounter the ghosts of Civil War soldiers who bring to life the stories and sounds of their fight to save Frankfort. Don't be surprised to hear the startling "boom" of the cannons!
Tickets to the event are $8 for adults and $5 for children; $7 and $4 for members of the Friends of Liberty Hall and the Capital City Museum's Wilkinson Society. Shows start on the half hour from 5:30 to 9:30 each night. Advance tickets are recommended and can be purchased by calling 502-227-2560. For more information, go to www.libertyhall.org/ghosts_2009.
