TAYLOR AVENUE, LOUISVILLE ROAD TO CLOSE FOR SEWER REPAIRS
Sections of Taylor Avenue and Louisville Road will be closed in the coming weeks as the Frankfort Sewer Department installs a new 48 inch storm drain and replaces a 14 inch sewer force main in the area, according to a press release from the Frankfort Sewer Department.
Work will be completed in two phases.
Taylor Avenue between Second Street and Devils Hollow Road will be closed beginning Monday, and Louisville Road will be closed between the Lafayette Drive bridge and Taylor Avenue after work on Taylor Avenue finishes sometime between Sept. 1 and Sept. 15, the release says.
Starting dates and durations of work may be adjusted for inclement weather, the release says.
GOVERNOR'S AMBASSADOR AWARDS NOMINATIONS DUE AUG. 31
The Personnel Cabinet is accepting nominations for the Governor’s Ambassador Awards in recognition of state employees who excel in one of six categories: customers service, courage, leadership, professional achievement, teamwork and community service.
Nominations may come from a private citizen or public employee and are due Aug. 31, according to a press release from the Personnel Cabinet.
Nominees must be presently employed by the state or have worked there in the past 12 months, the release says.
Nomination forms are available at http://personnel.ky.gov/emprel/GovernorsAmbassadorAward and can be e-mailed, faxed or mailed.
“Our public employees are devoted to serve the people of this Commonwealth,” said first lady Jane Beshear, who is part of a selection committee that reviews nominations. “Many of them selflessly go above and beyond the call of duty, without the faintest notion of being recognized themselves. I am honored to be involved in the program and to thank our public servants for all that they do.”
More than 200 employees were honored in 2011, and each received an engraved brick placed on Ambassador Avenue outside the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.
