Death investigation on Old Lawrenceburg Road

State Journal staff report Published:

Franklin County officials closed Old Lawrenceburg Road for about two hours this morning to conduct a death investigation.

Sheriff Pat Melton said he received a call around 7:30 a.m. after someone spotted a body on the side of the road between the East-West Connector and U.S. 127.

Emergency dispatch also received several calls about an empty vehicle, he said.

Deputies found a deceased white male when they arrived on the scene, Melton said. No foul play is suspected, he said.

The Franklin County coroner is also involved in the investigation.

  • Those allegations were made by the victim's family. I guess we'll never know for sure. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but our dispatchers deserve that, too. I would think and inquiry could be done and tapes could be produced proving it one way or the other if 911 calls were made...

  • I believe he is referencing the Monroe murder where they allegedly got a call about a body and suspicious activity the night before the body was discovered.

  • What are you referencing?

  • Well, at least this time the deputies got there before the next day...they are learning.
