A Kentucky National Guard vehicle traveling from Fort Knox to Frankfort flipped over Monday in Louisville.
The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Dixie Highway near Pendleton Road, where the vehicle went off the road and overturned completely, said Col. Kirk Hilbrecht, a Kentucky National Guard spokesman.
The driver is OK, Hilbrecht said.
The vehicle was part of the aviation unit and was being transported back to Boone National Guard Center from Fort Knox, where it was getting a maintenance check, Hilbrecht said.
Officials have launched a full investigation into the cause of the accident, but they don’t believe it was caused by anything that happened at Fort Knox.
“We were told that when it left Fort Knox, it was fine,” Hilbrecht said. “The vehicle’s action has nothing to do with the service performance; it was just an accident.”
No other vehicles were involved.
