Trial date set for 2 of Niagara Falls trio

State Journal staff report Published:

A pretrial date has been set for two of the three Frankfort men that were arrested on Aug. 5 in Niagara Falls.

A rope rescue team from the State Parks Police rappelled about 50 feet into the Niagara River gorge below the Cave of Winds to rescue Edward Goins, Michael Samples and Adam Jones.

The three 20-year-olds were each charged with disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment. Jones was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Goins and Samples returned to Niagara Falls City Court on Wednesday and a pretrial date was set for Oct. 3.

Jones pleaded guilty, but the court did not release the terms of the deal.

  • There was no rope team that went to get them. The guys were asked to walk back up a trail, where they were arrested. No one got stuck, no one was in grave danger.

  • Typical… News media at its best. As I understand there was not a rope team that rappelled down to “save” the young men… They walked out on the path they walked down on in flip flops provided by the falls tour…. Bad source SJ should have spoken directly with LT. Moriarty from Niagara Falls not info from another news media to get the facts and quotes. This was only to dramatize the much boring news that is released. Yes they are stupid for their actions but at least report it correctly. Along with all the other dramatized and over written articles.

  • what could these two mensa's defense possibly be? jones had the drugs, we were forced to follow him? it's these types of cases that hose our judicial system unnecessarily.
