A Frankfort man who shot at his neighbor across Elkhorn Creek, saying she was trespassing, is now being charged with a felony.
David Quarles, 59, was indicted by a Franklin County grand jury Wednesday for first-degree wanton endangerment.
On June 24, Roseanna Blankenship, who lives on the other side of Elkhorn Creek, was fishing when Quarles started yelling at her for trespassing, Commonwealth’s Attorney Larry Cleveland said.
“She tried to explain that she lived across the creek from him, and he started firing his gun,” Cleveland said.
Blankenship said she heard four shots fired, Cleveland said.
Two people in canoes were also on the creek while Quarles was shooting, but no one was injured.
“If he had been a good shot, he would have been charged with assault,” Cleveland said. “Since he’s a bad shot, he’s charged with wanton endangerment.”
Also indicted Wednesday:
>Joshua Stigers, 18, of Frankfort, was indicted for first-degree robbery and second-degree assault.
On Sept. 29 in a field adjacent to Meagher and Wallace avenues, Stigers allegedly hit a juvenile male five or six times in the head with a skateboard and stole his book bag.
The victim, who suffered a concussion, was taken to Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
The value of the items stolen was about $250, Cleveland said.
“It’s an interesting crime – assault with a skateboard, robbery using a skateboard,” Cleveland said.
>Andrea Woodward, 31, and Anthony Woodward, 31, both of Frankfort, were indicted for trying to sell stolen jewelry to pawn shops.
In September, Andrea Woodward worked at Dan’s Discount Jewelry and stole jewelry totaling more than $30,000.
She allegedly tried selling it to other pawnshops like Wooldridge Jewelers and L & B Pawn Brokers. Her husband, Anthony Woodward, also allegedly took the jewelry to pawn shops.
Andrea Woodward is charged with theft by unlawful taking.
Anthony Woodward is charged with receiving stolen property and second-degree persistent felony offender. He has previously been convicted of three counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance in November 2008.
